Newswise — Christmas is a wonderful time of gathering with friends and family, but for many the empty chair and missing laugh is a painful reminder of a loved one that has passed. For the last 15 years, Loyola University Health System’s Home Care and Hospice Department has provided a special way to honor their memory.

Ornaments with hand-printed calligraphy that recognize the names and important dates of loved ones adorn a lovely tree prominently placed in the medical center throughout December. This year’s ornament is heart shaped with a dove carrying a banner that reads, “In Our Hearts Forever.”

Ornaments can be ordered as gifts, for a personal tree, or to be placed on Loyola’s Memory Tree and after the holidays they are mailed to the donor to be treasured for years to come. All proceeds from the ornaments benefit the VanDyke Hospice Fund that is used to help hospice families in need.
