Newswise — A new, state-of-the art television studio was recently built by the Israeli Academic Television Channel, a unique national television station operated by the University of Haifa. The new studio is located on the campus in northern Israel.

The Academic Channel was established in 1994 as a non-profit television station, with the goal of bringing higher education into every home. The channel broadcasts 14 hours of programming a day, 7 days a week, mainly in Hebrew. "The programs include panels on various subjects, broadcasted lectures and conventions that are brought directly into the viewers' homes," says Dr. Amir Gilat, manager of the Academic Channel who emphasized that every month the channel produces 50 original hours of broadcasts. The independent news show "Academic Diary", broadcast daily at 10:00PM, provides viewers with the latest news in academia.
