Nayef Samhat, Assistant Professor of Government and International Relations at Centre College (Danville, KY) is an expert on theory of international relations and Middle Eastern affairs. He has been closely monitoring the historic disbanding of the Israeli militia in Lebanon, an area they have controlled since 1978.

As Lebanese citizens begin to slowly reclaim this area that has been occupied by outside forces for 22 years, the region still remains unsettled as the delicate transition takes place. As a native of the region, Samhat is available to offer insight into the implications of this collapse, what the immediate future holds Lebanese citizens, and what it means for the US.

Samhat holds a bachelor's degree in international economics from George Washington University's School of International and Public Affairs, a master's degree in international finance from Columbia University, and a doctoral degree in comparative political economy from Northwestern University.

Samhat has published research on comparative political economy of development, emphasizing the Middle East. He is a knowledgeable, articulate source on the Middle East including, the impact of current regional issues between Israel and Lebanon.
