CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Artists, writers, philosophers, scientists and scholars are among the distinguished visitors participating in the Center for Advanced Study/MillerComm lecture series this fall at the University of Illinois.

For more than 20 years, the series has provided a forum for new ideas and accomplishments in a wide range of fields and disciplines, and is supported with funds from the George A. Miller Endowment and co-sponsoring U. of I. units.

All talks are free and open to the public.

The speakers so far have been: Lana Rakow, professor in the School of Communications at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks; John Perry Barlow, co-founder of the Electronic Freedom Foundation; a fellow at Harvard Universityís Berkman Center for Internet and Society; and a former lyricist for the Grateful Dead; Cecilia VicuÒa, poet, performer and installation artist; Vitaly Komar, a New York City-based conceptual artist; and Sam Gustman, executive director of technology for the Los Angeles-based Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation.
