Newswise — Bloomberg Businessweek announced this week that the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia tops the specialty rankings list of best schools for corporate strategy, saying these schools “help their students find solutions to real, complex business problems.”

All third-year McIntire students are required to complete the School’s Integrated Core Experience (ICE), an innovative, dynamic curricular program that provides them with the richly comprehensive skill set they need to tackle complex real-world business problems, with projects from corporate sponsors. “Much of the coursework is centered on real-time business problems that sponsor companies are facing,” says the Businessweek article, “and student teams are tasked with developing strategies to deal with the problems.”

The ranking is based on responses from students from 124 undergraduate business schools to a question asking them to rank their program’s corporate strategy offerings. In other 2013 Businessweek specialty rankings, McIntire placed #3 for marketing and #5 for international business.

McIntire, which was again ranked #2 overall by Businessweek among the nation’s best undergraduate business programs this year, remains the only program to be consistently ranked either first or second in the eight years Businessweek has ranked undergraduate programs.
