Restoring normal protein production: Healthy control mice, top row, have normal hair cells, stained red, that produce full-length harmonin protein, shown by the green stain. Mice with Ush1c mutations, middle row, have disorganized hair cells that lack harmonin. After gene therapy delivering a healthy Ush1c, bottom row, full-length harmonin is again produced and is seen in the hair cells.
