Newswise — “The release of pro-Mubarak thugs on the demonstrators in Tahrir was meant to give an image of chaos and anarchy. Mubarak and those who rely on him want to create the impression that Mubarak remaining in power until September’s scheduled election is the best hedge against chaos. “Too many people have forgotten about the nature of the Mubarak regime, and too many people have mistaken the military’s presence as support for anti-Mubarak protesters. The latest developments in Egypt are evidence of that. “The Muslim Brothers have been the most organized and resilient opposition group in Egypt in the past few decades. There are several reasons, however, why the support they built under authoritarianism might not carry over into a post-Mubarak Egypt.”
