Once Upon a Time includes 76 works created by 15 of the finest children's books illustrators from around the world. The exhibition will be held in the School of Visual Arts Visual Arts Museum, 209 East 23 Street, New York City and there will be a reception on September 8, 2003 from 6 - 8pm.

Assembled by Tom Peterson, publisher of Creative Editions, and artist/illustrator Gary Kelley, Once Upon a Time will reveal a remarkable variety of styles and approaches to picture making for children's books. Museum goers will see a lively showcase of original drawings, paintings, pastels, and prints by several internationally acclaimed artists including: Etienne Delessert (Dance!, The Seven Dwarfs), Monique Felix (The Velveteen Rabbit), Roberto Innocenti (The Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol), Gary Kelley (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Boshblobberbosh), and George Lemoine (The Wicked Prince).

Though the artists are some of the best-known names in international illustration, Once Upon a Time comes right from the heartland of America: Creative Editions of Mankato, Minnesota. They have been producing beautifully designed and illustrated classics and children's books since 1983 and have received countless awards for their exquisite books.
