Fine Arts Stories From the University of Arizona

On his second Fulbight Fellowhip, Beudert conducted research on 19th century scenic design and scenic painting in France at the archives of the Paris Opera. In doing so, he created a database in cooperation with the Bibliotheque Nationale which gave them data to put into one of their on line catalogues. The archives allowed him access to more than 1,300 drawings and paintings of their 19th century holdings.

Ebie is on campus for the summer at the University of Arizona

Ebie directs the Senior High Outreach Choir, comprised of juniors and seniors from the city of Tucson. The students represent 13 or more high schools. It is an audition-only group of about 40 to 45 singers who rehearse on the university campus every Monday evening. The Choir provides University of Arizona undergraduate choral music education majors the opportunity to full run and conduct two of the five yearly concerts. The Outreach Choir also serves as a "lab" for the undergraduate students, giving them "hands-on" experience working with secondary education students.

Ebie is presently conducting research in the area of the similarities and differences between the reasons given by student athletes and student musicians for choosing to participate in extracurricular activities. Additionally, he's looking at a measure of teacher behaviors and personality when the teacher is teaching in a "most favored class situation, as in band, or when teaching a least favored situation, such as study hall, lunch duty or a general music course."
