BOSTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE ANNOUNCES COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER

Boston, MA - Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) announces that Hunter "Patch" Adams, MD, will be this year's commencement speaker. The BUSM Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 3:00 p.m. at the World Trade Center in Boston.

Adams inspired the recent Universal Studios movie "Patch Adams" and founded the Gesundheit! Institute Hospital Foundation based in Washington, DC. The institute is dedicated to bringing fun, friendship and the joy of service back to health care. Adams is the author of "House Calls: How We Can Heal the World One Visit at a Time" and "Gesundheit! Bringing Good Health to You, the Medical System, and Society Through Physician Service, Complementary Therapies, Humor and Joy."

Established in 1873, Boston University School of Medicine is a leading academic and research institution, with an enrollment of nearly 630 students and nearly 1,000 full- and part-time faculty members. It is known for its programs in arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, human genetics, pulmonary diseases and dermatology, among others. The School is affiliated with Boston Medical Center. Along with Boston Medical Center and 12 community health care providers, the School of Medicine is a partner in Boston HealthNet, a consumer-driven urban health network.
