Newswise — The passing of world-renowned tenor Luciano Pavarotti has saddened many. Kathleen Hacker, accomplished soprano and chair of the Department of Music at the University of Indianapolis, commented on Pavarotti's significance and lasting impact on the music community.

"Pavarotti was gifted with a quality of voice that comes along only a few times in a century. But beyond his extraordinary instrument, Pavarotti had the artistic sense of the indescribable phrase," Hacker said. "He could draw you into his creation and hold you there, barely able to breathe, for the length of an evening. Through the voice of a single man, we have shared in the sublime wonder of the unimaginable brought to life."
