Saint Mary's College political science professor Sean Savage is available for post-election interviews regarding the presidential and Indiana U.S. Senate race (Senator Richard Lugar's soon-to-be-vacated seat). His Expert for the Media page can be found at http://www3.saintmarys.edu/news-events/experts-for-the-media/sean-savage

Savage offers these possible responses to the outcome of the races.

If Romney wins the election…“Like the Carter-Reagan debate of 1980, the first debate between Obama and Romney provided to be decisive in changing Romney’s image among independents and undecided voters enough so that he won the election.”

If Obama wins the election…“Obama began his reelection campaign with advantages in the Electoral College and they proved to be strong enough to withstand the recent surge favoring Romney.”

If Democrat Joe Donnelly wins the Indiana U.S. Senate race…“The controversy over (Richard) Mourdock’s statement about rape (and resulting pregnancy) influenced enough voters so that Donnelly won what had been a tossup race.”

If Republican Richard Mourdock wins the Indiana U.S. Senate race…“The Republican coattail effects of Romney and (Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike) Pence were enough to help Mourdock achieve a narrow victory.”
