“Is today’s handover of power merely an in-house power shift, or is it the beginning of a change in the nature of the military regime that has governed Egypt since 1952? Will Egypt’s new military junta allow a real transition to occur, or has the last two weeks been a military coup in slow motion?
“A key question now is what role the existing Egyptian constitution will play in this transitional period.”
