Expert Analysis On U.S.-Taiwan-China Policy Available at Rhodes College

(Memphis, TN)---With China's recent demand to Taiwan calling for talks of reunification and with elections pending in Taiwan for new leadership, tensions between the two countries are increasing and U.S. policy could be affected.

Rhodes College professor of international studies, Dr. John Copper is one of America's leading scholars on U.S.-Taiwan-China relations. He is the author of more than 20 books including one of the most comprehensive overviews of the Taiwan situation, "Taiwan: Nation-State or Province?" and "As Taiwan Approaches the New Millennium: Essays on Politics and Foreign Affairs."

Professor Copper can provide analysis on the Taiwan situation, the conflict between Beijing and Taipei, Taiwan's upcoming presidential elections and related issues that will likely involve the United States and the world. In addition, how will the Taiwan affair affect the U.S. presidential campaign? Copper has testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He lived in Asia for more than 13 years and also speaks Chinese.

Copper will travel to Taiwan beginning March 10 and will be in Taipei to observe the presidential elections on March 18.
