ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY DEDICATES MANHATTAN CAMPUSCardinal Egan blesses building in Financial District

Jamaica, NY (June 14, 2001) -- St. John's University officially opened its Manhattan campus today, marking the successful completion of a merger with The College of Insurance (TCI). Under the agreement, TCI has been renamed The School of Risk Management and operates as a unit of St. John's Tobin College of Business. The 10-story building that was home to TCI, at 101 Murray Street, will now be operated as St. John's Manhattan campus and the University's fifth campus worldwide. His Eminence Edward Cardinal Egan welcomed St. John's to Manhattan by blessing the building.

"This is an historic moment in St. John's University history," said Rev. Donald J. Harrington, C.M., President of St. John's University. "We have long had as one of our strategic goals a Manhattan presence. As we welcome The College of Insurance, its students, faculty and alumni into the St. John's University community, we enrich the academic possibilities for all our constituencies. The combination of two highly respected business curricula with the rich resources of both St. John's and TCI will provide tomorrow's business leaders with the tools they need to be a success."

St. John's Manhattan campus will offer both undergraduate and graduate level business courses as well as executive and professional education programs beginning in the Fall 2001 semester.

* Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science* Bachelor of Science in Risk Management* Master of Science in Risk Management* Master of Business Administration in Risk and Insurance Management emphases in Insurance Management, Risk Financing and Risk Management

Professional Education courses include:

* License exam preparation* Continuing education* Executive and management training customized for the organization

Founded in 1870 by the Vincentian community, St. John's University has six schools and colleges. It offers associate, baccalaureate, master's, doctoral and professional degrees. The University enjoys an enrollment of approximately 18,600 students and operates four campuses: in Queens, Staten Island and Eastern Long Island in New York and in Rome, Italy.
