Newswise — What happens when veterans return from fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq and go back to college? What support is available to these students, who have seen and done things that most other college students have not experienced? Where do they fit in on a college campus?

Clemson University freshman Jonathan Cox was struggling with these questions when he enrolled at Clemson after four years of serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bataan. So, he and his computer science adviser, Ken Weaver, also a veteran, started the Clemson Student Veterans' Association. The group is small now, but is working to identify the more than 100 students at Clemson who are veterans.
