Newswise — OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton University is hosting its first summer leadership institute focusing on women in higher education. "Emerging, Aspiring, and Refining Women Leaders" will bring together university presidents, board members, nationally acclaimed experts in higher education and leadership experts from across the country in Omaha July 17-19 to share their expertise and experiences.

The two and a half day conference offers a unique interdisciplinary view of leadership that is applicable across a range of institutions. Each day, participants will dialogue with panel experts on the challenges of and changes in higher education, learn from keynote speakers, engage in small group work seminars and benefit from individual planning sessions. Sessions will be held at Creighton’s Harper Center.

Topics that contribute to the balanced leader’s life – career, social interactions, finances, physical health and strong communities – are the focus of this year’s leadership institute. Based on the Gallup book Well Being: The Five Essential Elements by Tom Rath and Jim Harter, conference sessions highlight these five “essential elements” that lead to improved lives. A copy of Rath and Harter’s book is included in the registration fee. Attendees will complete the Gallup Well Being Inventory and the Harvard School of Business Developmental Network Questionnaire in advance of the conference to be able to fully participate in the interpretation and exercises associated with the inventory and questionnaire.

Early registration at a reduced rate ends June 15, 2013. There are discounts available for multiple registrations from one institution. For more information or to register, visit www.creighton.edu/leadershipinstitute.
