6,000 Pharmaceutical Scientists Convene November 15-19 in San Francisco Meeting Theme: Bridging Gaps Within Drug Discovery and Development

Alexandria, VA -- July 29, 1998 -- Six thousand pharmaceutical scientists and researchers are gathering in San Francisco for the *Bridging Gaps Within Drug Discovery and Development* Annual Meeting of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), November 15-19, 1998.

Today, the pharmaceutical industry is intently focused on developing highly integrated team strategies for the rapid and successful throughput of drug candidates by bridging discovery and development activities. This year's Annual Meeting will center on the evolution of these bridges that span the gaps within drug discovery and development.

More than 350 exhibitors and 70 educational sessions will support the theme and expound upon issues like combinatorial chemistry, genomic and proteonomic research, selecting the optimum compound and delivery strategies.

AAPS is a professional, scientific society of more than 9,000 members employed in academia, industry, government and other research institutes worldwide. Founded in 1986, the goal of AAPS is to improve human health through the development of better pharmaceuticals. For more information about AAPS, visit our Web site at http://www.aaps.org.
