Newswise — LOS ANGELES - Pasadena Magazine’s annual Top Doctors issue has recognized 85 physicians with privileges to practice at our hospital. Many of the honorees are members of the Children's Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group and are academically affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.

“With 85 physicians named to this year’s list, we are honored to have more doctors recognized than any other pediatric medical facility in the region,” says Richard D. Cordova, FACHE, president and CEO, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). “Being listed in Pasadena Magazine is especially gratifying for our physicians and surgeons as it is an acknowledgement conferred to them by their medical peers. For Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, it confirms that we are home to an impressive array of medical experts committed to clinical excellence across a multitude of specialty areas.”

The esteemed list includes doctors from 20 CHLA clinical divisions, including specialties like cardiology, endocrinology, hematology-oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, neurology, neurosurgery and adolescent medicine, among many others. Many of CHLA’s areas of expertise also rank among the best in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospital Survey for 2015-16, which also lists CHLA in the top ten pediatric medical institutions overall nationally.

This is the eighth year Pasadena Magazine has developed and released a list of Top Doctors. Through a secure website ballot, doctors from the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles area voted for the most esteemed physician in their own specialty areas. The online votes were tabulated and participating physician credentials were verified by an independent law firm.

Many of the CHLA physicians honored this year have been selected for this distinction in previous surveys, demonstrating the skill and talent in the CHLA Medical Group.“It is truly an honor to have so many of our physicians recognized by Pasadena Magazine,” said Larry Harrison, chief executive officer of the CHLA Medical Group. “It is a validation of our goal to provide the highest quality care for infants, children and young adults, both at the main CHLA campus and at the growing number of satellite locations in our patients’ own neighborhoods."

This year’s honorees include physician staff from CHLA’s outpatient center in the San Gabriel Valley, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles – Arcadia, with nearly two-thirds of the center’s physicians making the list. Just a block north of “Restaurant Row” in Arcadia, off the Huntington Drive exit on the 210 Freeway, this medical facility supports about 7,500 patient visits annually, providing San Gabriel Valley families access to the same expert physicians who care for children at our nationally renowned main campus. Specialty services offered at the Arcadia outpatient center include: allergy and immunology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology-oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, pediatric surgery, pulmonology and urology. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles – Arcadia also offers laboratory and radiology services on site.

Families and children across the greater Los Angeles area also have access to CHLA’s award-winning care through four other neighborhood pediatric outpatient centers located in Encino, Santa Monica, South Bay and Valencia. The newest outpatient facility in Encino opened its doors in June 2015 and is staffed by physicians Board-certified in six specialties and subspecialties: hematology-oncology, nephrology, neurology, orthopaedics, pediatric surgery and urology. Laboratory services are offered there as well.
