(August 15, 2013) — The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) has opened registration to all practitioners for the 82nd AANS Annual Scientific Meeting, which will take place April 5-9, 2014, at The Moscone Center in San Francisco. “Expanding Neurosurgery” is the theme of the 2014 event, and a wide variety of programs, events and scientific presentations will explore how the field of neurosurgery is constantly changing and impacting an ever-wider area within the perpetually evolving field of health care.
“The 2014 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting will truly showcase the tremendous variety and reach that exists in the field of organized neurosurgery,” said AANS Annual Scientific Meeting Chair P. David Adelson, MD, FAANS. “This year's meeting in San Francisco affords us the opportunity to not only highlight the latest research findings and neurosurgical advances, but also come together to discuss how the various areas of our specialty can continue to work in collaboration to improve outcomes and better patient health. In 2013, a record-breaking 1,003 scientific abstracts were submitted for the 81st AANS Annual Scientific Meeting in New Orleans, and abstracts for the 2014 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting are still being accepted until Nov. 4, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. CST. New Practical Clinics, Breakfast Seminars and a Unique Art Exhibition Added to This Year’s ProgramThe 82nd AANS Annual Scientific Meeting will include a variety of new offerings and programs, including four new practical clinics and four new breakfast seminars. The 2014 meeting also will return exciting programming such as last year’s highly successful Neurosurgical Faceoff sessions, where two neurosurgeons explore the pros and cons of a particular procedure or subject, and then debate the topic along with questions and answers from the audience.
The Mid-level Plenary Session and related programming again will take place on Sunday, April 6, 2014. In addition, the well-received AANS Opening Ceremonies program will also take place on April 6, followed by the AANS Opening Reception, which will occur at San Francisco’s own unique Exploratorium.
