Newswise — The American College of Gastroenterology and its Institute for Clinical Research & Education today announced a commitment of one million dollars by Procter & Gamble. This gift to the ACG Institute's Capital Campaign boosts an impressive fundraising effort that so far has resulted in more than $16 million to support clinical research, patient and physician education, and to advance excellence in the practice of gastroenterology.
"Through its Capital Campaign, the College is determined to assure long-term and dependable funding for patient-oriented research and initiatives to enable physicians to ensure their patients the best care.," said David A. Johnson, M.D., FACG, President of the ACG. This will also help us to increase our efforts to educate patients about digestive health.
Dr. Johnson and ACG Institute Director Edgar Achkar, M.D., FACG announced P&G's gift at the College's 72nd Annual Scientific Meeting in Philadelphia. "Procter & Gamble shares many of ACG's interests," said Dr. Achkar. "This gift from one of our specialty's leading providers of consumer health products and pharmaceutical therapies for some of the most common digestive disorders is important to the success of our efforts. We recognize the generosity and commitment of Procter & Gamble."
