Newswise — Chicago, Illinois—The keynote presentation at the 31st Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) scheduled for this March in the Washington, DC area will focus on recent reported findings of the National Pain Strategy (NPS) Task Force.

Formed in response to the recommendation of a 2011 Institute of Medicine report –Relieving Pain in America—the goal of the NPS is to transform pain prevention, care, and education at the national level. At the keynote presentation, NPS leaders will discuss their recent report and findings, as well as discuss next steps for the Task Force and overall NPS plans.

“This is an exciting time to make a difference,” says AAPM President and NPS Co-Chair, Sean Mackey, MD PhD, who describes NPS goals as being well aligned with AAPM’s strategic plan.

The AAPM Annual Meeting runs March 19-22, 2015 at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, with preconference sessions beginning on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
