Newswise — The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Education Center is expanding its offerings to include a series of micro-courses covering a variety of specialties. Each micro-course begins with one-week online access to pre-recorded lectures and cases for a self-paced deep dive on the most challenging topics in a chosen specialty, followed by a virtual two-hour group case review and Q&A with faculty via Zoom and two additional days to review the case content. All virtual micro-course participants will have the opportunity to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and SAMs credits.

“The in-person courses at the ACR Education Center are the world’s best radiology simulator,” said Mark Murphey, MD, FACR, one of the ACR Education Center’s leading course directors. “By adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic and expanding its offerings to include these virtual micro-courses, the ACR Education Center continues to offer high-quality radiology training in a new way that’s accessible to all and protects the health of these physicians and the patients they serve.”

The ACR Education Center has been providing practicing radiologists with effective, realistic and efficient training opportunities that empower course participants to hone their technique and perform at peak level for more than 12 years.

“The hands-on learning and networking provided at the ACR Education Center is irreplaceable, and we look forward to welcoming participants back to Reston, VA as soon as it’s safe to do so,” said William T. Thorwarth, MD, FACR, chief executive officer of the ACR. “Until that happens, we’re proud to offer radiologists the opportunity to earn CME credit and hone their imaging technique in the comfort of their own homes with our new virtual micro-courses.”

Registration for the virtual micro-courses is now open. Additional course specialties will continue to be offered throughout the year.
