Newswise — WASHINGTON, DC, November 18, 2011—The Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) today announced the 2011 AMP Award winners during the Association’s Annual Meeting in Dallas.

Winner of the prestigious AMP Award for Excellence in Molecular Diagnostics, Dr. Carlo M. Croce, MD is the John W. Wolfe Chair in Human Cancer Genetics and the Chairman of Molecular Virology, Immunology and Medical Genetics at Ohio State University. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the 2006 Clowes Memorial Award from the American Association for Cancer Research, Croce completed his medical training at the University of Rome in 1969.

AMP presented the Leadership Award to Margaret L. Gulley, MD from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. The Meritorious Service Award was given to co-editors of the AMP newsletter Teresita C. Redondo, MD and Marlene Sabbath-Solitare, PhD, from the St. Barnabas Medical Center.
