Submission Deadline: December 27, 2002 The American Academy of Neurology (AAN), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving care for patients with neurological disorders through education and research is offering up to three journalism fellowships. The fellowships honor excellence in medical/health reporting in either print or broadcast journalism. Preference will be given to individuals with five years or fewer of journalism experience.
This program brings together top-rank neurologist, neuroscientists and medical/science reporters at the AAN's annual meeting, March 29 - April 5, 2003. The annual meeting provides an in-depth look at the latest advances in research and treatment options in neurological disorders such as stroke, epilepsy, headache, Alzheimer's disease and sleep disorders.
Fellowship recipients will receive airfare and hotel with a five-night maximum stay while attending the 55th American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii. To apply, submit six collated sets containing each of the following:
1.) written expression of interest (no more than 500 words); 2.) a resume (with home and office telephone numbers); 3.) three clips or broadcast tapes (VHS video) on a neurology-related topic or any medical/science topic; 4.) a nominating letter from a senior editor, news director or producer.
The Selection Committee will include internal AAN leaders and external professionals working in the field of journalism or public relations.
