Newswise — BETHESDA, MD., Sep. 21, 2011 – The Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) has announced the program of events for its Annual Meeting, being held November 17-19 at the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

The three-day event features workshops and plenary sessions in the major areas of clinical molecular diagnostics, including:- Mutianalyte Testing in Infectious Diseases- Next Generation Sequencing- SNP Arrays in Hematopathology and Solid Tumors- Pharmacogenomics- Molecular Analysis of Circulating Cells and Nucleic Acids- Copy Number Variation in Genetic Disease- Next Generation Laboratory Automation- The Human Microbiome- Regulatory and Reimbursement Updates

The meeting opens with a Keynote Lecture, MicroRNA Dysregulation in Cancer, given by this year’s recipient of the prestigious AMP Award for Excellence in Molecular Diagnostics, Carlo M. Croce, MD, The Ohio State University.

In addition to the Keynote and educational sessions, the Annual Meeting boasts a trade show with more than 120corporate exhibits, as well as lunches and casual social gatherings for networking and industry information exchange between molecular laboratory professionals.

The event is preceded by a Corporate Workshop Day, taking place on November 16, with more than 60 hours ofworkshops presented by the exhibiting companies featuring the latest scientific advances and instrumentation. Workshops are complimentary for Annual Meeting registrants.

Also preceding the Annual Meeting is the Molecular Pathology Outreach Course. The Course is designed for pathologists, residents, laboratory directors, and technologist with little to no experience in molecular diagnostic testing. This unique course will be held on November 16 at the Gaylord.

A special feature of the meeting is the awards ceremony, where AMP recognizes several individuals for their work and dedication in the field of molecular pathology.
