Newswise — Babson College Finance Professor Michael Goldstein has been named to the Economic Advisory Board of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Goldstein teaches in the undergraduate, MBA, and Executive Education programs at Babson. He has also taught at Boston College and at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he received the Proctor & Gamble Teaching Excellence Award.

He served on the NASDAQ Economic Advisory Board from 2003-2005 and was elected Chair for 2005; and from August 1997 to July 1998, Goldstein was Visiting Economist at the New York Stock Exchange, the eighth academic to hold this one-year post. Prior to that, he advised the Deputy Prime Minister of Poland on Poland's privatization program, and served on an SEC roundtable. He also worked as an Investment Banker with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in their Financial Institutions and Japan Banking groups. He has served as an expert witness in a number of multi-billion dollar cases and as a consultant to large multinational firms.

Goldstein's research specialty is examining the structure of markets. He also does work in real estate, asset pricing, and privatization and has presented at numerous conferences worldwide. His papers have been published in major finance academic journals, including The Journal of Finance, The Journal of Financial Economics, and The Journal of Financial Markets and Real Estate Economics. Goldstein has also been interviewed by many national and international print, television and radio media.

Goldstein's B.S., M.B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees were earned at the University of Pennsylvania.
