Newswise — Boise State University’s College of Business and Economics (COBE) has received a gift from HP for $500,000 worth of IT products, solutions and services for the new Micron Business and Economics Building.

The HP gift enables students and faculty to have access to state-of-the-art HP multi-function printing devices throughout the building, as well as HP PCs and other HP technology in key areas of the building. In addition, two learning spaces in the building – including a live learning lab – will feature the latest HP LaserJet multi-function devices, with the goal of positively impacting HP customers by encouraging students to develop new educational initiatives, and establishing a center of expertise on enterprise workflows.

The new Micron Business and Economics Building was dedicated earlier today and officially opens to students on Aug. 27, when Boise State begins the fall semester. The four-story, 119,000-square-foot building is the new western gateway to the Boise State campus, with a design that emphasizes student learning, business-relevant research and community collaboration.

The new building has been initially outfitted with 60 HP 8200 Elite Ultra-slim PCs, 60 HP LE1911 19-inch LCD monitors, 60 HP 128GB solid state drives, 50 HP LV2311 23-inch monitors, 20 HP 8200 Elite SFF PCs, 20 HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CM4540 MFPs and 12 HP 16X SATA Blu-ray writers, to name just a few of the new products. The gift also will include HP server products and complete managed print services for the building.

“This gift from HP provides Boise State students with the technological edge they need to achieve success beyond the walls of this university,” said College of Business and Economics Dean Patrick Shannon. “HP has been an invaluable presence in the Treasure Valley for decades now and we thank the company and its employees for extending that impact to so many future graduates.”

HP arrived in Boise in 1973 as one of the first technology companies in the valley with the goal of increasing Idaho’s high-tech footprint. With technology now one of the largest industries in the state, HP continues its efforts to diversify Idaho’s economy and increase the quality of life.

“HP’s commitment to education is based on the principle that effective integration of technology can help students reach their full potential,” said Von Hansen, vice president and general manager, HP Boise. “We are working with Boise State to provide key technology that will enhance the student experience and help build future business and community leaders.”
