Newswise — Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Mark Goodson Building, located at 444 South San Vicente Boulevard, recently received a TOBY (The Office Building of the Year) award for outstanding commercial office building and excellence in building management in the Medical Building category.
The contest, sponsored by BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) of Greater Los Angeles, is the most prestigious and comprehensive of its kind. It evaluates and judges all facets of a building's operations including energy management, main lobby and offices, parking, community impact, safety, grounds and maintenance.
The 101,331-square-foot Mark Goodson Building was built in 1982 and is managed by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Among the building's tenants are the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders, the Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center and the Gamma Knife® Center. The property manager is Soussan Semerciyan, RD.
"Cedars-Sinai has worked hard to create an environment at the Mark Goodson building that blends state-of-the-art medical technology with a comfortable environment for patients, physicians and staff, " said Larry Colvin, vice president of Facilities Planning, Design and Construction. "For example, our Gamma Knife Center has sophisticated medical equipment but also large windows and interior lighting designed to create a serene environment for patients."
The TOBY Awards program is in its 22nd year. Qualifying categories were awarded "winner" upon attaining a minimum score of 75% or higher after onsite inspections. Fourteen buildings in the Los Angeles area were recognized as "Office Building of the Year" in different categories, including Government Building, Industrial Office Park and Historical Building.
