Newswise — CRDF will present its annual George Brown Award for International Scientific Cooperation on September 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the National Press Club. This annual event recognizes individuals for their critical work advancing international cooperation in science and technology through cross-border collaboration. The Award furthers the late Congressman George Brown's vision for international research cooperation.

In 2010, CRDF is pleased to recognize three individuals for their scientific and humanitarian achievements: Dr. Bruce Alberts, editor-in-chief of Science, professor emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco, and former president of the National Academy of Sciences; the late Dr. Norman Borlaug, Nobel Peace Prize awardee and president of the World Food Prize; and U.S. Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN).A distinguished list of presenters and honored guests will join CRDF in paying tribute to the awardees:• Mrs. Marta Brown, wife of the late Congressman George Brown• Senator Chuck Hagel, chairman of the Atlantic Council• Dr. John P. Holdren, assistant to the President for Science and Technology• Senator Sam Nunn, co-chairman and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Threat Initiative• Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, president of the World Food Prize• Dr. Rajiv Shah, administrator of USAID

CRDF will also celebrate its 15th anniversary. Since its founding in 1995, CRDF has served as a leader in promoting international science cooperation. The event will recognize CRDF's successful programs and services in more than 30 countries worldwide, carried out on behalf of more than 100 government and private sector funders and clients.
