Newswise — Salt Lake City (Sept. 26, 2018) — The undergraduate Entrepreneurship program at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah has earned the No. 15 spot in the 2019 list of Best Undergraduate Business Programs in U.S. News and World Report. The program came in at No. 8 for state schools.
“We are thrilled to be recognized as a top-15 school for Entrepreneurship,” said Troy D’Ambrosio, the executive director of the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and an assistant dean at the Eccles School. “We have been rapidly growing our Entrepreneurship program for years, and the hard work is paying off. What makes us unique is our focus on students and what they need to be successful entrepreneurs.”
Entrepreneurship has a strong tradition at the Eccles School, and the program is consistently ranked among the best in the country. This highly experiential and hands-on major prepares students to create their own business opportunities and ventures. Students work with world-renowned faculty from the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy and also engage in programs and activities at the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. They also have the opportunity to live, create products and launch companies in Lassonde Studios, one of the most innovative entrepreneurship spaces in the world.
The Eccles School also received a No. 44 overall ranking for its undergraduate programs, coming in at No. 26 for state schools. The Accounting undergraduate program also received recognition, coming in at No. 56.
The rankings are based solely on the judgments of deans and senior faculty members at peer institutions. Institutions must be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) to participate.
“These rankings are a great representation of the momentum happening here at the David Eccles School of Business, including the work of faculty, staff and students,” said Dean Taylor Randall. “It’s especially meaningful to be singled out and honored by our peers.”
In total, 503 schools were included in the rankings. The Eccles School has been previously ranked for its undergraduate programs, but 2019 marks the first time Entrepreneurship and Accounting were honored as specialty areas.
