WHO: Evan Berry, associate professor of philosophy and religion, researches the intersections among religion, globalization, and climate change, and seeks to advance knowledge about the role of religion in contemporary environmental debates. Berry is the author of the forthcoming “Devoted to Nature: The Religious Roots of American Environmentalism,” (University of California Press.) Berry says: “Francis’s teachings on ecology and consumerism will resonate with and reinforce existing ecological movements and could even facilitate rapprochement between leftists and centrists within the Church.”
