Newswise — Up to 10% of Canadian war veterans will experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to Veterans Affairs Canada. This mental health condition is caused by a psychologically traumatic event such as war, rape or physical violence. People who suffer from PTSD constantly experience vivid flashbacks, feelings of helplessness, as well as fear and anxiety, which make it difficult to lead a normal life.

In honour of Remembrance Day, CIHR-funded researchers are available to discuss how we can help war veterans and others affected by PTSD.
