Newswise — Becoming a parent is often the most joyous time of a person’s life. It can also be a struggle when a wanted pregnancy becomes difficult to achieve.

“This is the most exciting time ever in the field of reproductive medicine,” said Barry Witt, MD, Medical Director of the Greenwich Fertility Center.

“Chances of becoming parents are constantly increasing with options that now include improved embryology laboratory techniques including day-5 blastocyst transfers, single embryo transfers, egg freezing, preimplantation genetic testing (PGD), and egg and sperm donation,” added Dr. Witt.

To explain these and other procedures, on January 20, 2011 Dr. Witt and his Greenwich Fertility Center colleague Elizabeth Fino, MD, will join a panel of world-renowned reproductive specialists from New York University Langone Medical Center and Greenwich Hospital plus an acupuncturist from Greenwich Hospital’s Center for Integrative Medicine.

The program, Fertility Treatments Today: A Wide Variety of Options, will be held at the Noble Conference Center at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut. Participants include Barry Witt, MD, Elizabeth Fino, MD, NYU Fertility Center Director of IVF Alan Berkeley, MD, Morris Finkelstein, MD, Jamie Grifo, MD, PhD, Nicole Noyes, MD, Fred Licciardi, MD, and Dody Chang, LAc.

The program includes a presentation, question-and-answer session, and an opportunity to talk one-on-one with the panelist physicians after the presentation while enjoying coffee and dessert.

This event is appropriate for married or unmarried couples, same-sex partners and single individuals seeking fertility information. Admission is FREE with advanced registration; $10 at the door. Register online at www.greenwichhospital.org or call 1-888-357-2409 or 203-863-3627.

Greenwich Fertility Center is affiliated with both Greenwich Hospital and the NYU Fertility Center, known to have some of the highest birth success rates in the nation. The facility’s embryology lab is located in Greenwich, and a second office has been opened in Tuckahoe, New York.

“The ultimate goal is to help every woman to become a mother if she so desires,” commented Dr. Witt.
