Newswise — WATERLOO, ONTARIO, CANADA, FEBRUARY 9, 2011 - Did you know you could fit the entire human race in the volume of a sugar cube? Or that, if the Sun were made of bananas, it wouldn't make much difference? Or that 98 per cent of the Universe is invisible?

On Wednesday, March 2, as part of Perimeter Institute’s Public Lecture Series presented by Sun Life Financial, award-winning science writer and broadcaster Marcus Chown will discuss how the Universe we live in is far stranger than anything we could possibly have invented.

Formerly a radio astronomer at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Marcus Chown is currently cosmology consultant of the weekly science magazine New Scientist. His books include We Need to Talk About Kelvin, Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You and Felicity Frobisher and the Three-Headed Aldebaran Dust Devil, which the UK’s The Sunday Times called "One of the books most likely to fire children's imaginations”. Marcus Chown’s lecture, entitled “My Top 10 Bonkers Things About the Universe” will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Tickets will be available starting Monday, February 14th, 2011.
