BOSTON COLLEGE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT CREATES INTERNATIONAL DUAL DEGREE WITH FRENCH UNIVERSITY

(Chestnut Hill, Mass.) -- The Boston College Graduate School of Management and the Robert Schuman University of Strasbourg, France, have begun offering an international dual degree. Students in the new joint study program will receive an MBA from Boston College and an equivalent French graduate management degree from IECS Strasbourg, the university's business school.

Launched in fall 1998, the program is the first international dual degree program offered by Boston College, and is one of only a few such programs nationwide. As part of the program, students will be able to do internships with European companies.

"This is an outstanding program for students interested in learning about the global nature of business today," said Graduate Dean Hassell McClellan. "The combination of a Boston College MBA, a graduate degree from a leading European management school and international internships will provide Boston College students with unparalleled career opportunities in global management."

Participating Boston College students will have the option to travel to Strasbourg, a major center of European commerce and politics, the summer before entering BC. They then return to BC for the first year of the MBA Program. After their second semester, they travel to Strasbourg in the summer to continue their course work and do a paid internship at an international company in Europe. They stay on to take international management courses and complete their third semester in Strasbourg, before coming back to the US to finish their studies. The program takes two years.

Strasbourg students will also enroll at Boston College. After the third year of their program, they will be eligible to enter the second year of the full-time MBA program at the Carroll School of Management. The first four students from Strasbourg entered the Graduate School of Management this fall. Officials at Boston College have just begun to promote the program to students and are in the process of taking inquiries about the new option.
