INTERNATIONAL PACKAGING CONFERENCE SET AT MSU

The Michigan State University School of Packaging will hold an international conference, WORLDPAK 2002, June 23-28 on campus.

WORLDPAK 2002 brings together two outstanding programs -- the 13th annual International Association of Packaging Research Institutes conference and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of MSU's School of Packaging.

The conference theme is improving the quality of life through packaging innovation. Four keynote speakers will share their insights and expertise on topics related to this theme:

* "Packaging Now to 2025," presented by Joseph Coates, former president and CEO of Coates and Jarret Inc.

* "Thinking Inside and Outside the Box," presented by Steven Rogel, chairperson, president and CEO of Weyerhauser Co.

* "Packaging Machinery and Its Role in Packaging Decisions," presented by Mel Bahr, CEO of MGS Machine Corp.

* "How Packaging Will Redefine Our World," presented by William Hickey, president and CEO of Sealed Air Corp.

Fourteen additional leading international packaging experts will discuss a wide variety of topics ranging from packaging and the environment to automotive packaging and from packaging innovation and development to global distribution challenges.

When the School of Packaging was created in 1952, MSU was the first university in the world to offer degrees in packaging and the international leader in cutting-edge packaging research. The school supports the packaging industry by educating students who are interested in employment in the industry, by conducting research to solve packaging problems and develop new technology for use by the industry, and by providing adult education programs and other services to the industry.
