Newswise — St. Petersburg, Florida will host officials from scores of the world's leading scientific research and technological innovation centers when the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) brings its 2008 annual conference to the city December 10-12, 2008. With a theme of "21st Century Research Parks: Global, Sustainable, and Connected" , the conference will be hosted by the University of South Florida Research Park.

Among the presenters at the St. Petersburg AURP conference will be: Matthew E. Crow, Deputy Assistant Secretary for External Affairs and Communications, U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration; David Day, Director of Technology Licensing for the Sid Martin Incubator at the University of Florida; White House Office of Science and Tech Policy Fellow John Voeller of Black & Veatch; John Adams, President and Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Florida; and H. Jay Bellwoar, Managing Director, Merrill Lynch Global Markets & Investment Banking.

Brian Darmody of the University of Maryland will present "The Power of Place: Building America's Communities of Innovation" during the conference. The Power of Place calls for the creation of American Zones of Innovation during the upcoming new administration.

Research Park directors from around North America and the world will be represented at the conference, as will university research administrators, site selection professionals, incubator professionals, architects and designers, real estate developers, and venture capitalists.
