Newswise — Reston, VA — The new Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR) Blog serves as a conduit to encourage reader feedback on critical issues in the specialty.

“Our goal is to continuously improve journal content scope and quality and serve as a portal for greater interaction of the radiology community,” noted Julianna M. Czum, MD, the first recipient of the Bruce J. Hillman Fellowship in Scholarly Publishing and the blog’s editor. “In extending content beyond print and online pages, the JACR Blog provides additional context to complement the content published,” added the division director of cardiothoracic imaging at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and assistant professor of radiology and cardiology at the Geisel School of Medicine, in Hanover.

The blog is the newest offering of a comprehensive digital initiatives strategy for JACR spearheaded by Ruth C. Carlos, MD, FACR, JACR deputy editor. The blog features weekly articles written by Czum and other radiologists and physicians. It also features the podcast debate series called “Radiology Firing Line.”

JACR is radiology’s only peer-reviewed journal focused on issues relating to clinical practice, practice management, health services and policy, and education and training. There are several other ways to connect with the award-winning monthly journal, including monthly Tweet Chats and the JACR iPad app,
