Newswise — In observance of World Voice Day, April 16, the American Academy of Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery is hosting a live webcast this Friday at 1 pm EDT. This one hour event includes a 30 minute presentation, "Healthy Voice 2004," followed by an interactive question and answer period. This webcast is being held in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and features voice expert Clark Rosen MD, associate professor of otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Director of the University of Pittsburgh's Voice Center. Dr. Rosen will address vocal anatomy and physiology, common medical problems of the voice, and prevention of voice problems.

World Voice Day is observed in numerous countries where ear, nose, and throat specialists ask the public to assess their voice quality and recognize that harmful speaking techniques, alcohol, and tobacco abuse can easily and irrevocably harm the voice.
