The new 2002-2004 edition of the Food Insight Media Guide on Food Safety and Nutrition is now available from the International Food Information Council (IFIC) Foundation. The Media Guide is an invaluable tool for reporters and professionals dealing with food and health-related communications.

Now in its fifth edition, the Media Guide is a 15-chapter resource book designed primarily for reporters. Inside there is a wealth of information providing background on a variety of relevant nutrition and food safety issues like child nutrition, functional foods, and food biotechnology -- including a new chapter on overweight, obesity and weight management. Also inside is contact information for over 250 independent scientific experts and a list of additional government, academic, and association resources to help reporters identify additional sources of information on nutrition, food safety, and health topics.

Serving as a companion piece to the IFIC Foundation Web site at http://www.ific.org -- updated regularly to provide the most current information -- every chapter of the Media Guide includes a "Web resources page," with references to other IFIC Foundation materials such as educational booklets and brochures, articles from the bimonthly Food Insight newsletter, and third-party documents. These resources and every chapter's background information are also available from the IFIC Foundation Web site.

The 2002-2004 edition of the Food Insight Media Guide on Food Safety and Nutrition is available free-of-charge to credentialed reporters, or for a $50.00 fee to the general public.
