PORTLAND, OR/December 15, 2000--The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) announces the launch of its newly redesigned Web site, www.psoriasis.org, aimed at better serving the more than 7 million Americans who have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

The revamped psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis site is an improved version of its award-winning Web site at the same address. The site now offers a vibrant new appearance, easier navigation, new services and expanded information.

The site's new features include:* Section for kids and teens* Message boards* Chat rooms* Current news items * Photos and interactive graphics* Expanded coverage of NPF current events

The upgraded features will keep people abreast of the latest news and educational information emerging from the medical and research communities. It will also serve to bring people who have psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis together to share and gain knowledge about these chronic, noncontagious diseases.

This site is for people who have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, their friends and family and medical professionals, as well as NPF members and the public. For the first time ever, the new site will offer special online services for NPF members in a password-protected section.

"The Internet is a valuable tool for advancing the NPF's mission to educate the world about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, while at the same time bring people together in a cyber-environment tailored to their needs," said Gail M. Zimmerman, NPF President and CEO. "We are investing in the Internet to provide the public with immediate access to information, a way to meet others and become involved in the NPF."

As part of exclusive online membership benefits, members can read the NPF newsletters, educational booklets, participate in a message board, attend live chat events, ask questions and more. NPF membership registration is available online and is a yearly donation in any amount. Visit the NPF Web site www.psoriasis.org for more information about membership.

The NPF is a lay, nonprofit health organization with a mission to provide information and support to the more than 7 million Americans with psoriasis, educate the general public about psoriasis and fund psoriasis research for a cure.
