The American Medical Group Association announced today that Debra Cohn has joined AMGA as its new Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs. Ms. Cohn will lead AMGA's government affairs activities with Congress, the White House, and executive agencies on behalf of its members.

"We are very pleased that Debra Cohn has joined AMGA's senior management team," said AMGA President and CEO Donald W. Fisher, Ph.D. "Her experience in health policy, law, and advocacy is perfectly suited to reinvigorating and expanding AMGA's public policy and government affairs initiatives."

Ms. Cohn has 20 years of progressive experience as an attorney and lobbyist in the health care field. Most recently, she was Legislative Counsel to the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine. Previously, she was the Washington Representative for Health for the University of California's Federal Relations Office. Prior to working for the University of California, Ms. Cohn spent four years at the Health Insurance Association of America, first as a senior counsel in the State Affairs Department, and later as General Counsel. From 1989 to 1993, Ms. Cohn was Director of Government Relations at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Prior to that, she worked for the New York State Assembly's Committee on Health as Counsel for two years, and was in private law practice for four years. Ms. Cohn graduated with honors in history from Brown University and received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
