"NOBEL FOR ENGINEERING" AWARD TO BE ANNOUNCED FEB. 1

Editors, news directors: Reporters and photographers are invited to attend the announcement of the first winner/s of a half-million-dollar international award that will recognize achievements in engineering.

Recipient/s of the award will be named at 10 a.m. in the John Peter Zenger Room at the National Press Club located at 529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor, Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Feb. 1.

The prize, endowed by and named for engineer and inventor Fritz J. Russ and his wife, Dolores, will be announced by the National Academy of Engineering. Winners were selected by the NAE and Ohio University in Athens, home of The Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ College of Engineering. The initial prize will focus on biotechnology.
