NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR 2001 BERNI AWARDS

Berni Marketing & Design, Greenwich, CT, is seeking nominations for its annual BERNI Awards, comprising The BERNI BESTS, which will be given for Best Consumer Packaging and Best Branding introduced in 2000, and the BERNI BOMB, which will be awarded for the single worst entry in each category. Awards will be given in first, second, and third places for the BESTS, based on the judges' evaluations.

According to President/CEO of Berni Marketing & Design, Stuart Berni, the criteria for judging the package are: 1. It must clearly communicate the brand name 2. It must accurately communicate the contents 3. It must be ergonomic (easy to use) 4. It must have impact both on and off the shelf 5. It must be memorable 6. It must protect the contents

Criteria for the best branding strategy are:

1. Naming - must convey the essence of the company/ its business/ product 2. Identity -- must have instant recognition, memorability, and impact.

Website and e-commerce businesses may be entered in the Branding Program category provided they were launched or repositioned in 2000.
