Newswise — FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE Fla. —- Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will have a grand opening ceremony on Wednesday, April 27 to launch the university’s first physical therapy program in the Tampa Bay area.

The grand opening will take place at NSU’s Tampa Student Educational Center (SEC). Launched as a hybrid program, which combines classroom instruction with online classes, the physical therapy program will have 20 students.

Classes will start on May 31. The program will offer students a doctor of physical therapy degree or D.P.T. from NSU’s College of Allied Health and Nursing.

The college will also introduce the occupational therapy and cardiovascular sonography programs during the grand opening, which will take place on the third floor of NSU’s Tampa SEC. Both programs are expected to start next year.The grand opening will include a wine and cheese reception, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a tour of the physical therapy program facilities.

“This innovative DPT program provides qualified, non-traditional students such as working adults the opportunity to become physical therapists,” said Mary Blackinton, PT, Ed.D., GCS, associate program director of the NSU physical therapy program in Tampa. “Furthermore, our blended learning design creates a strong, interactive learning community supported by the outstanding technological resources of NSU.”

Rachel Burgin’s office.• Tammy Bracewell, President of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce.
