Optum Receives 2016 AMGA Distinguished Corporate Partner AwardNewswise — ALEXANDRIA, VA - AMGA recently presented the AMGA Distinguished Corporate Partner Award to Optum at AMGA’s 2016 Annual Conference, held at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida.
The AMGA Distinguished Corporate Partner Award is presented to industry partners for their outstanding service and value to healthcare provider groups and their patients. Optum received the award for its longtime partnership with AMGA on improving population health through comparative clinical analytics and its commitment as AMGA’s first and only Sustaining Partner. Optum exhibits at AMGA meetings; contributes to AMGA Foundation, including as Principal Corporate Collaborator for the Foundation’s upcoming national diabetes campaign; and contributes content to AMGA’s Group Practice Journal.
Optum has been a critical and important ally for AMGA members, which include more than 435 medical groups, health systems, and other organized systems of care, including some of the nation's largest, most prestigious integrated delivery systems. Its support has enabled AMGA to develop a robust comparative analytics program for members.
AMGA’s Immediate Past Board Chair, Don L. Wreden, M.D., Senior Vice President for Patient Experience at Sutter Health, who presented the award to Optum, said, “The collaboration with Optum has enabled AMGA members to adopt evidence-based processes and predictive analytic capabilities that are leading to accelerated improvements in care for our patients.”
In accepting the award on behalf of Optum, Executive Vice President Lisa Tseng, M.D., said, “Optum and AMGA are applying predictive analytics to improve health outcomes through identifying at-risk patients earlier and providing proactive, targeted care interventions. For example, several AMGA member groups have achieved dramatic reductions in hospital admissions among patients with heart failure and COPD.”
Optum Analytics Senior Vice President Rick Dean, the newest member of the AMGA Analytics Board of Directors, said, “AMGA and its members contribute vital clinical expertise and experience in working with patients, while Optum provides unparalleled clinical analytics.
