Gerald D. Fischbach Responds to Michael J. Fox's Announcement That He Is Leaving His TV Show

In response to Michael J. Fox's announcement that he is leaving his TV show to work for a cure for Parkinson's Disease, Dr. Gerald D. Fischbach, the Director of the principal NIH institute supporting Parkinson's disease research, is available for media interviews. Dr. Fischbach can discuss current research being conducted for Parkinson's disease, new avenues for treatment, and the possibilities for advances in the future.

Dr. Gerald D. Fischbach oversees all research in neuroscience at NINDS and with grantees at major academic centers across the country. He has 30 years experience as a research scientist, teacher, and academic administrator. He is a former chair of the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Fischbach is a past president of the Society for Neuroscience and also has chaired the Neurobiology Department at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
