SAMHSA selects Brian Altman as its new Director of Legislation

Newswise — The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is announcing the appointment of Brian Altman as its new Legislative Director. In this capacity he will serve as SAMHSA’s chief liaison with Congress and will work closely with constituency organizations to advance the Nation’s behavioral health services.

Altman has extensive experience in representing behavioral health issues on Capitol Hill. He served as the Director of Public Policy and Program Development for the Suicide Prevention Action Network USA / American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and as Legislative Representative at the American Counseling Association.

Hyde, J.D. “The role of SAMHSA, like all Federal health agencies, is evolving in the rapidly changing health care environment. His expertise, experience and passion are greatly needed as SAMHSA continues to work with Congress to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities.”###
