Newswise — The U.S. Secretary of State's Science and Technology Adviser Dr. Nina V. Fedoroff will be a guest speaker at a special U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF) event 5:00 pm, Saturday February 16 in Boston, MA; during the 2008 Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The event will highlight the role of scientific efforts across the globe, and the importance of science and technology collaboration to advance diplomacy. Potomac Institute Senior Fellow Dr. David Kay, a member of the CRDF Board of Directors, will also deliver remarks on behalf of the Foundation.

Building upon the event, CRDF will also launch its new science-focused blog and Podcast series, Conversations on the Transforming Impact of Science.

Conversations is an online exploration of important global issues from a variety of sources, through the lens of international science and technology partnerships. By drawing upon perspectives of many of the world's best known and fascinating people—including authors, researchers, businesspeople, policymakers, journalists and those who work on the front lines of major challenges, CRDF hopes to add new voices and create a truly global dialogue on value of science collaboration.

Event attendees will enjoy an exclusive look at the premiere issue; which examines opportunities for science to improve America's image abroad, and features conversations with Rep. Rush Holt, U.S. House of Representatives; Dr. David Kay, Potomac Institute; Dr. Rita Colwell, Canon U.S. Life Sciences, Inc., and Dr. Vaughan Turekian, AAAS.

Note to Editors: The CRDF event is open to all AAAS Conference attendees, special invited guests and members of the news media.
